Director of Development

Superb Internet Corporation (www.superb.net) is a dynamic and vibrant corporation with 100% private ownership and long standing history in web hosting sector since 1996.

We are currently seeking the Director of Development.  The Director of Development must be an excellent communicator, an effective team leader, have the ability to multi-task, possess excellent client interaction skills, be detail oriented, assertive, an excellent and tenacious problem solver and have the ability to excel with minimal supervision.  The Director of Development must be at Advanced Application Programming level technically with the years of experience to prove it.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of 3-8 developers, and possibly also a team of 3-6 internal systems administrators (depending on the exact scope of role, as will be determined based on the unique skill set), in addition to working with on-site staff at the data centres, and will be responsible for leading the development efforts of new services and hosting service automation, clustering, and other solutions, and also possibly internal/current systems
administration.
- Collaborate with the team leaders, other discipline directors, vendors, contractors and clients to make sure all overall company objectives are being met and delivered.
- Motivate all members of the development department to attain individual project and overall company goals as indicated by the Management Board.
- Responsible for the planning and resource allocation decisions required to meet project schedules.
- Travel and work directly at various data centers (VA, WA) locations and on-site in Honolulu.
- Responsible for the day-to-day administration and future capacity planning, design, etc. of internal company systems, ranging from internal operations, mail, web database, etc.
- Project lead in architecture, implementation, and support of both shared and dedicated hosting services including web, email, DNS, monitoring, and others.

Requirements
-  must have a strong, lengthy (i.e. at least a few years, if not a   decade+) background on development/programming for Internet systems and/or Internet system administration.
-  must be fully up-to-date and current on all the latest technologies related to web hosting and web development.
- must be an effective manager of people.
- must be a skilled technical trainer of staff.
- must be just as comfortable delving into something hands-on (when so required; e.g. debugging code or restoring a failed server or cluster) and supervising/managing others to do so (that is, must be able to lead by example and train others well).
- must be results driven, detail oriented.
- 5+ years in managing services in the web hosting industry along with an understanding of the future technologies that will be required to remain competitive in the industry.
- 3+ years in project management role in hosting or related industry.
- Experience administering MySQL and MS SQL Databases.
- Ability to travel 30% of a year.

This is a full time position with full benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), sec. 125, sec. 132).  Applicant must be able to relocate at his/her own expense and work in Honolulu, Hawaii full time.
